COROPLAST

Plant Expansion

Coroplast Tape Corporation, a leading German manufacturer of tape products for numerous industries around the world, recently partnered with Context Design Group to design their new Plant Expansion in Rock Hill, SC. Based on additional business gains in the U.S., Coroplast doubled the size of their existing facility as part of this Expansion. The additional square footage allowed for new process lines, additional warehouse racking, and Production support areas.

Context Design Group coordinated with the Owner on the new materials and process lines being introduced to ensure all systems and installations were fully code compliant. CDG also worked with the Owner to provide a more efficient facility by moving away from the existing in-rack fire suppression system to a ESFR system throughout the expansion saving a significant amount of cost relatd to the Owner’s storage system.

With the anticipation of rapid growth in Coroplast’s near future, the Support area’s design incorporated a concrete slab along with rough-ins for future stairs and an elevator to serve a second level Office area. Conceptual planning of this future Office level was also completed in order to incorporate the exterior windows in this phase. Undertaking this planning will greatly save the Owner both time and expense on future expansion project.

Throughout the design and construction process, a careful eye was directed towards an efficient facility, both ecologically and process-oriented. And the utmost importance on quality and detail, meeting the standards that Coroplast holds firm, was the top priority. This facility expansion provides our Client with the value of additional space that coincides with their company culture and principles.
