A-320 Fleet Maintenance Facility
North Airlines, commissioned Simons Engineering, Inc. to develop the Program and Conceptual Design for a New Centralized Maintenance Facility for their newly purchased fleet of Airbus A-320 Aircraft. David W. Lewis, AIA, President of Context Design Group, PLLC was the Lead Project Architect for this project and was in charge of the Facility Programming and Conceptual Design effort for Simons Engineering, Inc.
The facility is designed to be a “State-of-the-Art” facility that can handle both Class “C” & “D” Checks for the entire fleet of new generation aircraft. In addition to having flexible hangers sized to handle future generation models, the design incorporates necessary support functions & equipment to handle the new composite materials used in the aircraft frame and fuselage. The project incorporated a centralized series of support functions focused on Quality / Communications so all staff members would be InTouch with the Turn-Around Status at all times. Cutting Edge IT Systems and Infrastructure was an integral Part of the Overall Design Solution.
