DRAEXLMAIER AUTOMOTIVE

San Luis Potosi Facility Construction and Masterplan

This design/build project represents the entirety of DAA’s San Luis Potosi Facility. The site serves two Draexlmaier manufacturing divisions; both the Electrical Systems Division and the Automotive Interiors Division. This facility is designed within Mexico’s first Foreign Trade Zone and marks the first building to be erected in that zone.

The two buildings occupy a combined footprint of 450,000 square feet. Based on DAA’s success in recent years, they realize the likelihood of growth. Considering this trend, Context Design Group designed each facility with the possibility of doubling floor area. The Site Masterplan is also designed for this considerable expansion that would swell Draexlmaier’s manufacturing capability to 2,000,000 square feet in one facility.

The Interior Division incorporates a high-bay narrow aisles warehousing, plastic injection molding, bridge cranes, ESFR fire protection, a flexible assembly production area, and a two story office area with multipurpose training rooms and R&D support space.

The Electrical Systems Division incorporates high-bay narrow aisles warehousing, ESFR fire protection, a cutting and stripping wire harness assembly area, 100% assembly/testing area, and a two story administrative office area with training and support spaces.
