School Renovations & Additions
Greenview Elementary School
Greenville County Schools turned to Context Design Group’s Team Members to develop programming requirements, conceptual design and a masterplan for Greenview Elementary School’s expansion and renovation. During the planning phase it became obvious that the renovation and expansion would cost almost as much as a new school due to existing building and site conditions. Once this phase was complete Greenville Schools elected to revise the plan based on our report to become a New Elementary School. They decided to combine the student load from Greenview Elementary and Bakers Chapel Elementary to become the New Thomas E. Kerns Elementary School.
Grove Elementary School
Greenville County Schools turned to Context Design Group’s Team Members to develop program requirements, conceptual design and a masterplan for Grove Elementary School in Piedmont, South Carolina. The new elementary school was designed to meet Greenville County’s current regulations and provide better accommodations for Grove’s students and staff. The goal for the project was to develop a concept that would serve Grove’s needs such as larger classrooms and facilities, improved building conditions, and an efficient organizational layout. Site and Program Constraints drove our team to look at a Two-Story Elementary School Design with Central Functions in Ground Level with Two-Story Classroom wings radiating from the core.
Monaview Elementary School
Greenville County Schools turned to Context Design Group’s Team Members to develop program requirements, conceptual design and a master plan for Monaview Elementary School in Greenville, South Carolina. The goal of the project was to develop a plan to Renovate and Expand the existing school to meet Greenville County’s current regulations and provide better accommodations for Monaview’s students and staff. Working with the faculty at Greenville County Schools, Context Design Group developed a custom solution for the poor conditions of the existing school. This was accomplished by designing a concept that increased classroom/facility sizes, improved building conditions by using the latest materials, and provided an organizational layout with efficient circulation. In addition to developing this plan we were asked to look at potential cost of Renovation/Expansion vs. New Construction. After providing this study it became evident that building a New School on the existing Site was the best option. Greenville County then elected to go with an existing Prototype for the New School which best met the design criteria to provide a cost effective solution for the project.
